After the winter break, Rangers won their Scottish Cup match against Dumbarton on Saturday. However, they had been eyeing this

match for some time as a way to continue their Premiership success where they left off. It was an instance of expert work.

Clement’s next assignment is to travel to St Mirren on Saturday. The Belgian will be hoping that this is the start of another long run for

Rangers. Below, Joshua Barrie and Chris Jack break down the key talking points from Easter Road.

Comfortable and commanding for Clement’s side

Huge moments win big games. Yilmaz and Cantwell’s creations were good enough to turn and prevail in any given situation. Rangers

did not play well in the first half, but Clement had to be happy with his team’s circumstances as they headed back to the away dressing

room. Yilmaz’s opening number was both stylish and substantive. Rangers took their time getting close before John Lundstram

decided to make the game-winning pass. Yilmaz had the dexterity to manage a precisely weighted dinked ball over the top of the

Hibernian defence. He rifled the ball past David Marshall at the near post for an emphatic finish.

The second was as remarkable. Cantwell was the focus of this one. He had spent most of the half in the background, but he picked his

opportunity to stand out. Marshall had no chance as a tremendous strike from outside the box took him out. Rangers were now in

charge instead of just feeling at ease. Perhaps too open in parts for Clement’s tastes was the second half. Rangers never seemed like

throwing away their advantage, even though they lacked the poise to eliminate Hibernian.

The game was won and the job was done when Dessers made it 3-0.
