Doc Rivers can be successful as Milwaukee Bucks coach if he can do these 2 things
According to an ESPN story, Doc Rivers was hired as the Milwaukee Bucks coach, just one day after Adrian Griffin was fired as the head
coach.
After 24 seasons as an NBA coach, Rivers led the Boston Celtics to the 2008 NBA Championship. From that championship-winning year
forward, he had 16 straight winning records.
With 1,097 career wins, he is only behind Larry Brown for ninth place all-time. With 111 playoff victories, he is in fourth place.
This season, Rivers has been employed by ESPN as an on-air analyst. The day following the Philadelphia 76ers’ defeat to the Boston Celtics
in the Eastern Conference Semifinals of the previous campaign, he was fired.
A big reason for the removal of Griffin as Bucks coach was the team had dropped from fourth in the NBA in team defense in 2022-23 to 21st
this season.
Why? Well, for one, they traded Jrue Holiday, the team’s best defender, in the package that landed them Damian Lillard, one of the best
scorers in the league.
The Bucks are third in the league in offensive rating, so if the defense can improve just moderately, they could make the run they hope to
make.
