Mason Holgate and Joe Worrall, center backs for Everton and Nottingham Forest, are targets for Sheffield United,

sources have told Football Insider.

As the Blades attempt to avoid relegation, manager Chris Wilder is reportedly keen to recruit a new center-back to

his defense in January.

The two are his “top two targets” for this month, according to Football Insider’s well-placed sources, and one of them

may sign before the window closes on February 1.

Last month (December 11), sources informed Football Insider that Everton intended to end Holgate’s Southampton

loan, allowing him to sign with another team this month.

The 27-year-old, who has only made six appearances for Russell Martin’s promotion-chasing team this season, has

had a challenging loan stay in the Championship.

However, if Everton receives a strong enough offer from Wilder’s team, he might make a swift return to the Premier League.

Extended Worrall, the captain and servant for Nottingham Forest, started the first five Premier League games of the

current campaign, but he hasn’t started a league game since September.

United has conceded 51 goals this season, giving them the poorest defensive record in the league.

After bringing in striker Ben Brenton Diaz on loan from Villarreal earlier this month, they are now giving defensive

hiring top priority. They are in advanced negotiations to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Ivo Grbic, who is nearing

the end of his contract, sources told Football Insider on January 20. Sheffield United’s late equalizer against West

Ham United on Sunday (January 21) does not change their position at the bottom of the Premier League table.

On Saturday, January 27, they take on Brighton in the FA Cup’s fourth round at Bramall Lane.
