Agreement reached with Ridvan Yilmaz over January exit as late Rangers negotiation update emerges
On Wednesday, January 24, the journalist from Ajans 1905 revealed via X that the 22-year-old left-back has reached an agreement
with the Turkish powerhouses to leave Ibrox this month, but negotiations with Rangers have not advanced.
Philippe Clement’s side are understood to be locked in fierce negotiations with Galatasaray as the Turkish giants look to complete a
move which will see them sign Yilmaz on an initial loan deal with an option to buy [Fanatik, 24 January].
In reference to the agreement on X, Rodop wrote: “Galatasaray and Rıdvan Yılmaz have reached a consensus.” Still, there hasn’t been
any progress in the negotiations with the Rangers.
Not a move
Throughout this constantly shifting transfer story, it has become abundantly evident that Rangers will only consent to a transaction
that is executed under their ideal conditions and are hesitant to concede too much in exchange for Yilmaz.
Clement isn’t blessed with a huge amount of left-back options at Ibrox currently, with Yilmaz and Borna Barisic the only naturals in
that position and with the Croatian’s contract up come the end of the season, he won’t want to lose them both within six months.
Galatasaray will probably consent to the Turkish defender’s departure this month if they truly meet the Gers’ demands, but they are
not under any obligation to force the transfer to happen.
It is possible that a deal will close earlier than anticipated if Yilmaz has achieved a personal terms agreement, but neither party seems
especially eager to negotiate more conditions at this time.
