Sources: Aston Villa told £10m bid could now be accepted, Morgan Rogers clause details emerge
Morgan Rogers is a big target for Aston Villa, and they might sign him this month for between £10 and $12 million, sources told Football Insider.
Football Insider reported on Monday, January 22, that Villa has made a third attempt to sign the 21-year-old Middlesbrough prospect and that they are “growing in confidence” that they will do so soon.
The Midlands giants have already had two bids for Rogers turned down by Boro, who will drive a hard bargain since they don’t want to lose him in the middle of the season.
It is said that Man City is entitled to a significant sell-on clause in the event that a deal is completed; Middlesbrough is considering that as they bid for an eight-figure sum.
On Tuesday, January 23, Boro wants Rogers to be available for their match against Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final second leg. Following that match, Villa plans to intensify their negotiations.
According to a reliable source who spoke with Football Insider, unless there are big outgoings in the last few days of the transfer window, the attacker will probably be Villa’s only January addition.
On Saturday, January 20, scouts from Unai Emery’s team came to watch Rogers in Middlesbrough’s 1-1 draw with Rotherham.
During the 2023–24 season, he has participated in 32 games in all competitions, with six goals and nine assists.
Kosta Nedeljkovic, a standout player for Red standout Belgrade, has already signed with Villa this month; the 18-year-old will spend the rest of the season on loan back to Serbia.
Only five points separate Unai Emery’s team from leaders Liverpool in the Premier League standings.
