The Gers Manager Philippe Clement has claimed Rangers are considering all

their transfer alternatives as rumours continue to surround Ibrox.

Mohamed Diomande is expected to arrive in midfield for around £4.5 million,

and Fabio Silva has already brought in strikers on loan from Wolves until the end of the season.

There has been much speculation that Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland could be an Ibrox target this month,

but when asked if any progress had been made on a forward, Clement referred to the options he already had.

He said the Rangers are considering all of their alternatives. Clement replied: “It’s the same as the first inquiry.

I am not discussing positions or what we desire. There are strikers in the  building.

Fabio showed already good things, Cyriel if you look at the statistics he has at the moment,

he is in a good way also. We will see what targets we will take in the transfer market and what the possibilities are.”

Clement was also asked if he would feel secure if he did not add to his current roster.

And his response was clear: “No.” Because that was not the club’s idea.

I am convinced that we will do what we all agree on.”

Talk then switched to Diomande’s cost and if it would necessitate loan signings.

While skirting the question, Clement says that they are searching for players

who can contribute both now and in the future.

He continued, ahead of his side’s Premiership meeting with Hibs on Wednesday,

“You know I am never going to respond to that question.”

It is apparent that we have these discussions with the board and the investors about what is achievable and

what is not possible when we come with names and we make decisions around that.

“Everyone is tremendously ambitious to see the squad grow, improve, and make the proper transfers.

Short term, to assist the team over the following six months.

Long-term investment returns require players to come in and make an effect

while also growing and becoming part of a club that may be sold.

“Those are also factors to consider. There are usually many factors to consider,

which we address. That is why the nights are short in January, and I am always glad it is February.”
