Luke Getsy will interview for Raiders’ offensive coordinator position

Earlier this month, the former offensive coordinator for the Bears was let go. For the position of offensive coordinator, the Las Vegas Raiders have scheduled interviews with two former OCs and a current QB coach.

Along with Dan Pitcher, the coach of the Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks, the Raiders will also have a conversation with the two former coordinators, Luke Getsy and Alex Van Pelt.

Before being let go earlier this month, Getsy, 39, served as the offensive coordinator for the Bears for the previous two seasons. The Bears finished 27th in passing this season and last last year, while finishing in the top two in running offense the previous two seasons.

Justin Fields, the quarterback under Getsy’s coaching, is a potential trade prospect because Chicago has the first pick in this year’s draft and may be interested in USC quarterback Caleb Williams. It is anticipated that the Raiders will be looking to acquire a new quarterback, either via a trade, the draft, or free agency.

Van Pelt, 53, coached quarterbacks for the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers before joining the Cleveland Browns as their offensive coordinator the last three seasons. Coach Kevin Stefanski made the decision to restructure the offensive line after the Browns finished 11-6 and qualified for the playoffs despite starting five quarterbacks.

Van Pelt worked as a Cincinnati coach for Marvin Lewis.

Antonio Pierce, who served as the Raiders’ temporary coach this season before taking over as head coach on Friday, had Lewis as an adviser. Lewis will reportedly be joining the crew, according to NFL Network. From 2020 to 22 Pierce and Lewis collaborated at Arizona State as well.

Pitcher, 37, has coached the Bengals’ quarterbacks since 2020 and joined the team in 2016. Cincinnati may elevate him to the open role of offensive coordinator, but Pitcher has multiple scheduled interviews.

According to reports, the Raiders have also asked to talk with Zac Robinson, the coordinator of the passing game for the Los Angeles Rams.
