Cowboys Pushed to Sign ‘Difference-Maker’ Super Bowl Champion.

The possibly greatest player at his position is pleading with the Dallas Cowboys to sign him.

Dallas should think about signing Chris Jones,

Lions’ grades from playoff win over Tampa Bay: Unsung heroes, stars prove valuable

a defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs,

as recommended by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report.

After signing to a new one-year contract shortly before the season began,

Jones, 29, will be a free agency this offseason.

Knox makes the straightforward claim that Jones is the “premier” defensive lineman in the NFL and that the Cowboys’ run defense is mediocre.

The rushing game hammered the Dallas defense in postseason losses to the San Francisco 49ers,

Buffalo Bills, and Green Bay Packers, according to Knox.

The Cowboys’ run defense would be strengthened on the front end by adding a top defensive tackle like Chris Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mazi Smith,

a defensive tackle from Michigan, was a developmental talent who Dallas acquired with a first-round pick.

Why Chris Jones Is the Kind of Player the Cowboys Need  Dallas’

defense was ranked 15th in yards per attempt allowed and 16th in rushing yards.

During the three games against the top teams stated earlier,

the Cowboys gave up 193 running yards per contest on average.

To put things in perspective, the Arizona Cardinals,

who had the worst run defense in the NFL, gave up 143.2 rushing yards per contest.  Put another way,

the Cowboys’ biggest issue heading into the offseason is,

certainly, their run defense and lack of effective run-stoppers.

Jones is still unquestionably among the best as he approaches his age-30 season in 2024.

With 30 tackles and 10.5 sacks, he recently secured his fifth straight Pro Bowl selection and his second First-Team All-Pro selection.

Cowboys Might Be Averse to Signing Chris Jones Due to Cost  Jones recorded an 84.1 defensive rating and a 90.3 pass-rushing grade in 2023,

per Pro Football Focus. Among all defensive tackles,

his pass-rushing grade came in third,

and his defensive grade came in ninth.  The main concern is how much Jones will be paid in free agency,

even though it’s unlikely that he won’t be a cheap commodity and one of the best free agents available.

His market value is $28.1 million per season, or $84.6 million over three years, according to Spotrac.

Jones would then be the defensive tackle in the NFL with the second-highest salary
