Bertrand Traoré of Aston Villa is not enjoying his stay in the Midlands as he is now playing for Burkina Faso at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Unai Emery has used the 28-year-old Villa Park player quite little, and it appears he needs a transfer as he is presently “falling off the radar” at the Premier League.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who examines every former member of Ligue 1 who is having trouble with their current squad, including a section on the striker for Aston Villa.

They seem to remember that he was actually being played by Emery when he returned from his loan at Basaksehir FK in January of last year, but they may have overstated when they called his second half of the season “sensational.”

Though only one of his two goals in eight Aston Villa games came from a start, he did look to be a part of his manager’s plans.
This season, that has significantly changed as Emery has only used him six times overall (for a total of 41 minutes) in all competitions.

For this reason, according to Foot Mercato, the Burkina Faso international’s career has “come to a standstill” and a sale may be necessary soon.
