Texans OC Bobby Slowik talks with the Falcons; there may be two more
Bobby Slowik, the offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans, had an interview with the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. It is reported that two other organizations had virtual meetings with him regarding head coaching positions.
According to ESPN, Slowik, 36, was scheduled for interviews with the Washington Commanders and Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Regarding their available roles, he has already had conversations with the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers.
He is now the 12th candidate to speak with the Falcons after the team confirmed the interview. Large-name competitors face Slowik. Among the Atlanta contenders are coach Jim Harbaugh, who won a national championship, and Bill Belichick, who has six Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots. Belichick has conducted two interviews, and it is said that Harbaugh will meet with the team again.
With the Houston Texans, who were ousted from the postseason after losing 34-10 to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC divisional round on Saturday, Slowik recently wrapped up his first season as an NFL offensive coordinator. Slowik worked on Kyle Shanahan’s staff in San Francisco for six seasons prior to moving to Houston to work with new head coach DeMeco Ryans. In 2017, he began as an assistant for defensive quality control and worked his way up to passing game coordinator. In Houston, Slowik oversaw an offensive unit led by rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud, which helped the Texans win the AFC South with a 10-7 record.
