Hearts close in on new signing, Celtic blow, Rangers eye midfielder, potential Hibs exit – Scottish transfers
Here are the top transfer stories from Scottish football this morning, including
Hearts’ interest in Fraser’s loan.
Hearts are expecting to complete the loan signing of Charlton Athletic midfielder Scott Fraser this week.
The 28-year-old former Dundee United teenager went to England in 2018 and has since played for Burton Albion,
MK Dons, Ipswich Town, and the Addicks.
Fraser, on the other hand, is eager to return to Scotland,
and while Motherwell has indicated an interest in him,
the Jambos appear to be in pole position to sign him.
Fraser is a creative midfielder who will provide manager Steven Naismith with more alternatives in that area after Andy Halliday and Alex Lowry left the team last week.
Hearts have also been pursuing a deal for Ross County midfielder Yan Dhanda,
but any move to Tynecastle is more likely to come on a pre-contract agreement in the summer.
Celtic’s Beck hopes over for now
Celtic’s hopes of signing Liverpool left-back Owen Beck in this transfer window have been dashed after
the 21-year-old was used as a substitute by the Reds in their 4-0 victory against Bournemouth.
The defender impressed on loan at Dundee earlier this season before being called up by Liverpool.
His performances at Dens Park reportedly piqued the interest of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers,
who is looking for a left-back to compete with Greg Taylor,
but now that Beck has appeared for two teams this season,
FIFA rules state that only Dundee and Liverpool can use him for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.
Rangers linked with Ivorian midfielder
Rangers are allegedly close to a deal for Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomande.
The 22-year-old now plays for Danish Superliga team Nordsjaelland,
and Danish media sites report that Diomande has been granted permission to leave
the club’s training camp in the United States and complete his transfer to Ibrox.
Rangers are looking to strengthen their midfield options,
particularly with Kieran Dowell anticipated to be sidelined for several weeks owing to injury.
Should Rangers sign Diomande,
he will become manager Philippe Clement’s second signing of the current transfer window,
following the loan signing of striker Fabio Silva from Wolves.
Beale faces criticism from Sunderland fans.
Michael Beale, the former Rangers manager, is already under pressure from Sunderland fans.
Beale took over at the Stadium of Light last month,
but the Black Cats have won only two of their first seven matches,
and they are presently tenth in the Skybet Championship.
#BealeOut has begun to trend on social media platform X,
while Sunderland fans sang “sacked in the morning” following their 3-0 defeat to Hull over the weekend.
Doidge honest about Hibs’ future
Hibs striker Christian Doidge has admitted that he could leave the club this month.
The 31-year-old Welshman scored the winner in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Forfar Athletic,
but boss Nick Montgomery has told him he is free to leave if the appropriate offer comes along.
The former Forest Green player’s contract expires in the summer. Full interview with Christian Doidge.
Dundee duo prepare for escape door
According to local media reports, Dundee’s Zak Rudden and Cammy Kerr have been told they can leave Dens Park.
Kerr, a veteran defender, enjoyed a testimonial match earlier this year.
