Pete Carroll, the coach of the Seattle Seahawks for the previous 14 seasons, five division victories,

two Super Bowl appearances, and one world championship,

is being replaced.

Carroll’s defensive coordinator from 2013 to 2014,

Dan Quinn, was a contributing factor in that accomplishment.

The Tennessee Titans are currently conducting interviews with 53-year-old Quinn as they consider whether he should be the Seahawks’ next head coach,

following them in this regard. Quinn was interviewed in the first place by Carroll’s team.

As the creator of the feared “Legion of Boom” defense when playing for the Seahawks, Quinn is well-liked in Seattle.

In Dallas, Quinn was just as beloved for having created one of the best defenses in the league and leading the Cowboys to three consecutive 12-5 seasons.

However, Dallas supporters were weary of the team’s lack of playoff success,

and some even believed head coach Mike McCarthy would lose his job as a result.

While owner Jerry Jones is verbally committed to McCarthy for one more season,

the same locked-in tie cannot be stated of Quinn,

who is actively seeking for head coaching vacancies.

It has been reported on CowboysSI.com that Jones desires Quinn to go back.

However, Some Cowboys fans are pushing for a change after Quinn’s defense gave up 48 points to the No. 7 seed Packers in the Wild Card game, leaving many bitter.

Quinn and Al Harris

Given that Quinn is still attracting interest from Seattle,

that shift might very well happen.

With no contract extension through 2024,

McCarthy is entering a “lame duck” season in which he may have to assist in establishing a new defense in Dallas during what may be his last season as head coach of the Cowboys.

Or perhaps the “same” defense with a different head coach,

since the Cowboys probably think that in addition to outside hires,

they have three employees in Joe Whitt,

Al Harris, and Aden Durde who could advance to coordinator.
