Adams is toxic for Scottish football’ – Scottish Cup fans reaction

There’s nothing quite like the magic of the Scottish Cup – until things don’t go as planned,

at which time it’s less Dynamo and more disappointment as you realize you’ve been duped by a card trickster.

This weekend’s action may not have produced many unexpected results,

but it is reasonable to say that some fans were unimpressed with what they saw, regardless of the outcome.

We asked for your thoughts on a busy weekend of Cup action in the fourth round, and here’s what you came up with.

“Nothing short of atrocious”

Perhaps expected, Ross County fans were outraged over the weekend,

both by the crushing defeat to Partick Thistle and by manager Derek Adams’ contentious post-match statements…

Kyle: Adams is bad for County and Scottish football. If his unfavorable words weren’t enough,

his takeover of the club in an old-school dictatorial capacity is undoing many positive changes.

Regardless of recent performances,

the club has made positive improvements in terms of reducing the amount of loan players, etc. Adams ruined it all.

Iain: I do not believe any County fan is surprised that we lost this tie.

I think it was a terrible mistake to bring Derek Adams back;

the way he has acted since his return, along with this interview,

makes it sound like he is desperate to be fired and return to England,

which, in my opinion, should happen immediately.

Davie: Another shocking performance. In the Scottish Cup,

we only play one up top. Partick, you really outperformed us.

Alan: When Derek first arrived, he hit the ground running with a couple of strong successes,

but since then, things haven’t gone so well, with the exception of a draw at Hearts.

His post-match interviews have been nothing short of terrible.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he was stripped of his duties within the next few weeks,

as I don’t believe the players are playing for him.

Colin: It appears that under Adams, Ross County will participate in the Championship next season.

He sent strong players out on loan and replaced them with poor players from his  Morecambe days.

Was disappointed the headlines in today’s paper wasn’t about him leaving.

He has lost the dressing room and refuses to take any blame.

“Without Shankland we are toothless”

Hearts may have won the ‘other’ Edinburgh derby,

but their performance against the Spartans on Saturday has some Jambos concerned.

Billy: This game demonstrated that Hearts are nothing without Shankland.

We huffed and puffed but didn’t bring the house down. We need another striker, and it needs to be a good one.

Steve: Without Shankland, we’re a mid-table team; we need to back him up with a big target man.

Angus: Seeing Hearts struggle to convert possession into goals against Spartans made

it evident that without Shankland, we are toothless.

David: It’s great to see Craig Gordon back, but I’m sorry for Zander Clark,

who has done so well for us. I dread what to think if, as expected, Shankland leaves.

“We must sign a goal scorer…”

Cyriel Dessers hasn't won over Rangers fans despite his cup goal against Dumbarton
Cyriel Dessers hasn’t won over Rangers fans despite his cup goal against Dumbarton

Rangers defeated Dumbarton in what could be termed as difficult conditions at the Rock – yet despite a goal from Cyriel Dessers, some fans remain unhappy.

Anon: Even if Dessers scores a goal, he is still completely useless.

He should be shown the Ibrox front entrance. Despite the terrible conditions at Dumbarton,

it was heartening to see McCausland, Lundstram, and Tavernier deliver outstanding performances.

Now, go all the way and lift the cup.

Dougie: A minimum pitch standard is undoubtedly required before a game may be played.

Being permitted to play in a quagmire does not benefit Scottish football.

Ronnie: We never seemed to be in trouble.

However, we still don’t translate our superiority into  enough clear-cut chances.

A bad pitch and poor weather did not deter the players who gave a professional performance and

we are through to next round.

We must sign at least one goal scorer this window.

Meanwhile, Celtic fans were happy following their 5-0 victory over Highland League side Buckie Thistle.

Just a little…

George: Huffed and puffed a little but once the first went in it was just a matter of how many.

I hope the Bhoys from up north had a good day at Parkhead.

John: Despite the 5-0 result, Buckie Thistle deserves the majority of the credit for this victory.

They arrived to Parkhead with a game plan and stuck to it.

Well done, Buckie. Hopefully, promotion is in the cards this season.

“Not a spectacle of a game”

Aberdeen fans continue to look up at Bojan Miovski's performances.
Aberdeen fans continue to look up at Bojan Miovski’s performances.

And what about the rest? A mixed bag for supporters, but with the transfer window shutting next week,

player performances and moves dominated the discussion.

John (Aberdeen fan): A good win on a horrible pitch in bad weather against a team with nothing to lose.

Miovski once again demonstrated that he is gold dust,

and his worth must have skyrocketed;

his goal and the opportunity that clipped the bar were both exceptional.

Kenny (Hibs): At least it was a win, albeit not a convincing one. The players must play with a competitive edge,

and it is the manager’s responsibility to ensure this. So yet, nothing is occurring.

Wilson (Livingston): It’s good to come away from the game with a win; it’s been a long time.

Dan MacKay’s assist and goal are also encouraging; if Nouble leaves,

he’ll see more playing time and appears to be a much better player for us.

Dougie (St Johnstone): No shots on target today, and it is not the first time.

It does not take a genius to realize that humans must win games in order to survive.

We are paying strikers who are unable to do their jobs.

Gary (dundee): The team selection was perplexing. Given that we hadn’t played in over three weeks,

why not approach it with your “strongest” available XI –

or at least the most settled – if you truly want to make a go?

And to end on a positive note, here’s a happy Kilmarnock fan to round off the day.

Jack: Killie got off to a flying start, whereas Dundee had a disaster.

Kilmarnock has more than made up for surrendering the late goal against Dundee a few weeks ago.

The game was not particularly entertaining, but the outcome is what important.

It’s good to see some rotation in Kilmarnock’s roster in key areas,

as well as other players getting playing time. Roll on the next round.
