Rangers boss Philippe Clement targets two new signings in January transfer window

Rangers boss Philippe Clement is reportedly keen on landing two new signings in the January transfer window, with two particular positions in need of a boost.

Barry Ferguson shares 'no doubt' Rangers January transfer verdict as new forward arrival mooted at Ibrox

Clement, who joined the team last month to replace the fired Michael Beale at the Scottish Premiership giants,

wants to add a few of his new players to the current Ibrox roster.

The Belgian player recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the “balance” of his first team roster,

saying he feels he has too many players in some places and not enough in others.

In light of this,

he disclosed that preparations are already well advanced for the upcoming season,

with a particular focus on new hires in January.

As the Rangers’ manager, Clement has had a successful debut and has not yet experienced loss. With a game remaining in the title battle,

his team is still eight points behind fierce rivals Celtic.

In order to further balance his team, Clement also wants to add a striker and a new left-back during the winter transfer window,

according to Football Insider.

On the left side of Clement’s defense,

Borna Barisic and Ridvan Yilmaz have split the workload,

and it’s obvious that the Ibrox boss hasn’t decided which player is superior moving ahead.

Barisic signed a contract with Rangers in 2018 after leaving Croatian team NK Osijek, and his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Nine goals in over 200 games for the Glasgow team,

the 31-year-old has been linked to a move to the English Premier League in the past.
Clement is hoping to bring on a second striker.

Football Insider also reports that Clement plans to bring in another goal scorer in the upcoming year.

Considering that Beale signed Danilo, Sam Lammers, and Cyril Dessers during the summer transfer window, that comes as a bit of a surprise.

Nonetheless, with a total of 13 goals this season, all three have struggled to score.

James Tavernier, the prolific right-back and captain,

leads the goalscoring statistics with nine goals in all competitions, which is a harsh indictment of Clement’s choices for forward play.
