Johnathan Hankins has ‘unfinished business’ in Dallas

Jonathan Hankins, a defensive tackle is among the 16 players on the Dallas Cowboys‘ 2023 roster this offseason,

that will be eligible for free agency.

Among them is dseasoned veteran whose contract with the Cowboys expired after just two seasons.

On Saturday night,

Hankins posted a 21-minute video to his YouTube channel

in which he talked about his upcoming free agency and his wish to return to Dallas for the upcoming season.

Hankins remarked, “I think I brought some good value to this team.”

“I believe that even in an organisation like this, working as a team,

I still have something left in me.

I’m still performing well and finishing the work, even after the year I had.”

“I still have goals I want to accomplish and I still feel like I have unfinished business.”

My aim is to make it to the Super Bowl, and I would really like it to take place in Dallas.”

With his daughter turning two this summer,

Hankins revealed that he thought about retiring during the previous offseason.

However, the chance to play in Dallas provided him a fresh start for the second part of his career.

“Going into that offseason last year,

to be honest I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue playing,” he stated.

At the time, my daughter was turning two,

and I felt that I needed to spend as much time as possible with my family.

It was difficult.

Introducing the young men like Mazi and interacting with Law, Micah, DA, and Osa

kindled a new flame within of me.

Though Hankins still has thoughts of retirement this offseason, he exudes confidence in his ability to play at a high level and in his drive to reach his ultimate objective.

“Is this the final occasion you will meet Big Hank? Not in my opinion,” Hankins remarked. “After speaking with the Cowboys, speaking with Mike [McCarthy] and the staff, obviously I’m still playing at a high level and I want to continue to play.”
Although Hankins has expressed a desire to return to Dallas, both sides must cooperate in free agency for him to rejoin the Cowboys in 2024.
