Johnathan Hankins has ‘unfinished business’ in Dallas
Texas’s Frisco This offseason, 16 players on the Dallas Cowboys’ 2023 roster will be eligible for free agency.
Among them is defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins,
a seasoned veteran whose contract with the Cowboys expired after just two seasons.
On Saturday night,
Hankins posted a 21-minute video to his YouTube channel in which he talked about his upcoming free agency

Hankins remarked, “I think I brought some good value to this team.
” “I believe that even in an organization like this, working as a team,
I still have something left in me.
I continue to play at a high level and complete tasks with the same level of efficiency as I did in year eleven.
“”I still feel like I got unfinished business,
still have goals I want to achieve.
The goal of mine is to get to the Super Bowl,
and I would love for it to be here [in Dallas].”
With his daughter turning two this summer,
Hankins revealed that he thought about retiring during the previous offseason.
However, the chance to play in Dallas provided him a fresh start for the second part of his career.
“Going into that offseason last year, to be honest I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue playing,” he stated.
At the time, my daughter was turning two,
and I felt that I needed to spend as much time as possible with my family.
It was difficult.Introducing the young men like Mazi and interacting with Law,
Micah, DA, and Osa kindled a new flame within of me.
Though Hankins is still considering retirement this winter,
he exudes passion and confidence in his ability to play at a high level.
“Is this the final occasion you will meet Big Hank? Not in my opinion,” Hankins remarked.
“After speaking with the Cowboys,
speaking with Mike [McCarthy] and the staff,
obviously I’m still playing at a high level and I want to continue to play.”
Although Hankins has expressed a desire to return to Dallas,
both sides must cooperate in free agency for him to rejoin the Cowboys in 2024.
“We’ll see how everything goes, the talks and everything,” he stated.
“The journey doesn’t stop here.”
