The loan agreement for Johnny Kenny has been extended, as announced by Shamrock Rovers. Since making the temporary transition,

the Celtic attacker has made 37 appearances for the Dublin team, contributing four assists and six goals.

During a Q&A regarding Kenny’s signing, head coach Stephen Bradley stated the following on shamrockrovers.ie:

Q: You must be thrilled to have Johnny back for another season after he demonstrated his abilities well enough the previous season,

scoring some outstanding and significant goals for us.

A: “Yes, that makes me happy. A lot of people tend to overlook that Johnny is still learning the game and has a lot of space for growth

and progress. He demonstrated this last season as a young player. He seems to be a good fit for what we do. He’s a bright young man

with a bright mentality, and we think he has all it takes to be a top-tier center forward. We are therefore happy to have him back.

Q: As you alluded to, people seem to overlook the fact Johnny is still a relatively young player. Was coming into a winning team going

for a record-equalling four titles in a row difficult for him initially?

A: “People only see the player while they are on the field. It’s important to remember that he had a challenging 18 months prior to

joining us, and it requires time for a player to get used to a new environment. a new setting and new teammates, therefore it’s a

process that takes time to complete. The good news is that he has a fresh, sophisticated mentality. He wants to get better, so he works

hard to get better. He seems like he has genuine talent, which Johnny can use here. Hopefully, we can assist him in using this talent.

Q: You mentioned at the end of the previous season that you thought Johnny would gain more long-term advantages by playing with Rovers for another season. Did Johnny need any convincing to see things your way?

A: “We spoke all the time. Since last summer, Johnny and I have had frequent conversations regarding my wanting to stay for an

additional year. He approaches and perceives the game with maturity for someone so young. It’s excellent that he sees this as his

immediate future. We won the league last year, so he had a taste of what it could be like here—both as an individual and as a member

of a team. He always seemed like he wanted to participate.
