When players like South Korean double-act Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeon-kyu,

Australian winger Marco Tilio, and Norwegian midfielder Odin Holm were already in the pipeline,

the Irishman returned to the Hoops in June for a second tenure as manager.

Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke, two central defenders from Legia Warsaw and Elfsborg,

respectively, were both moving to Parkhead in a double deal worth £7.3 million.

The scenario is different with Nicolas Kuhn, who signed in a £3 million deal from Rapid Vienna earlier this week,

although Rodgers rubberstamped the additions.

“Brendan Rodgers has described Nicolas Kuhn as having an excellent level of quality,”

claimed former goal hero Chris Sutton.

“Those are not hypothetical remarks. According to his own remarks,

the manager has been provided with the kind of player he is looking for in the German.

The Celtics manager called a quality call. not tasks.

“Last weekend, I expressed my belief that Kuhn should be added to the project list; but,

Rodgers’ judgment is final when it comes to signings.

It is now Kuhn’s responsibility to disprove him. In other words,

Rodgers must rise or fall based on his acquisitions. All managers carry out.

Kuhn is a wide offensive player, so it will be interesting to see how he fits in.

He seems to be playing off the right when he enters, and with Daizen Maeda in the Asian Cup,

the door is currently ajar.

“Liel Abada made a successful recovery from his injury shortly before the shutdown,

but the young man has had many challenges this season,

so it’s difficult to predict what he’ll produce on a regular basis.

With a £3 million price tag and numerous starts for Rapid Vienna before to his arrival,

Kuhn must be primed to perform spectacularly from the moment he enters the field.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Sutton went on, saying,

“This one’s on the boss for all the board’s criticism over what’s being sought and what’s being bought.”

“Recruitment personnel play a crucial role in helping managers narrow down

their lists by providing a description of the kind of candidate they are looking for in a particular role.

However, once advised, it is subject to Rodgers’ ultimate decision.

This is what will be examined, and that is the proper course of action.

“Yes, a club’s spending plan does matter in part. It’s ridiculous to argue otherwise,

but since Rodgers is aware of the methodology, I have no concerns about the way the board operates.

“He claims he’s content to work there. He must thus get it correct.

It’s just not clear to me why supporters are demanding huge expenditures when

the club has made this is strategy quite clear.

“And I’ll say it again: it can be incredibly effective if done correctly.”

“Celtic had to spend £6.5 million to get Jota signed,” Sutton continued.

When the Saudis came calling, they ended up with £25 million by paying that little bit extra.

Carter-Vickers cost £6 million that summer.

I estimate that you could be looking at an additional £20 million if the English do come calling in the summer.

The fans truly desire to witness that. Larger investments yielding more wholesome returns.

Though I’m very sure Matt O’Riley and Carter-Vickers will stick around for at least the summer,

will eventually leave, and their hefty transfer fees will only serve to reinforce

the idea that greater salaries correlate with higher sales.

“What fans really want are players who are ready to jump right into the team and improve it.”

Kuhn needs to be included in that category. If transfer fees are your only consideration,

Kuhn is back toward the riskier end of the spectrum, but Rodgers believes Kuhn has the quality.

That is the manager’s opinion. not the board’s. The onus is on Rodgers,

therefore he needs to make a wise choice and continuing making wise choices.
