Player Beale sold shares which Rangers man he learned the most from at Ibrox

During his time at Ibrox, Glen Kamara said he picked up the greatest knowledge from Rangers midfielder Steven Davis.

The Finland international said in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post on Thursday, January 18, that the 39-year-old could “easily control the game” and knew when to “calm it down.”

Before joining Leeds United in the summer, the 28-year-old midfielder said he “learned a lot” from the Northern Ireland international and called him a “great player.”

Kamara remarked, “I feel like I’ve definitely learned along the way.”

“Watching other players, other midfielders along the way—I’ve seen a lot of football on my trip and I’ve learnt a lot from different footballers and maybe simply from playing against other people as well—is probably a bit natural as well.

“Reading a game isn’t that simple, but I’ve definitely learned from other people as well as from myself.” I can immediately think of one player in particular: Steven Davis, who I played with while at Rangers.

He is a person who could quickly read the game, control it, and determine when to speed it up or slow it down. He was a terrific player and a fantastic guy, and I learned a lot from him. He taught me a lot of things.

Exemplary

It is hardly surprising that Kamara has such high regard for Steven Davis because others who have collaborated with him frequently express their admiration for him.

Few players are able to play until they are almost 40 years old, but he has been able to do so because of his passion and understanding of the game.

Before former Gers manager Michael Beale decided the Finn wasn’t in his plans for the summer and sold him to Leeds, the two played together for four years in Glasgow.

It would have been intriguing to see how the midfield player would have performed under Philippe Clement given what has transpired in the last several months.

The Belgian is trying to make the most of the players he has at his disposal at Ibrox, so the Light Blues can’t afford to focus on that.
