Bill Belichick interviews with Falcons for the second time
In relation to the Atlanta Falcons’ head coaching position, Bill Belichick has already met with the franchise twice in a single week.
The former New England Patriots head coach conducted another interview with Falcons players on Friday.
The Falcons are the only team that the 71-year-old is said to have interviewed with, while Belichick is the only coach Atlanta has apparently met with twice in person, according to ESPN.
Meetings with Jim Harbaugh, the head coach of the University of Michigan, Ejiro Evero of the Carolina Panthers, Brian Callahan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Brian Johnson of the Philadelphia Eagles, Steve Wilks of the San Francisco 49ers, Mike Macdonald of the Baltimore Ravens, and assistant head coach Anthony Weaver have all been part of Atlanta’s coaching search.
Interviews in person cannot take place for candidates who are working until after Monday, or when their team has finished playing.
A noteworthy figure to keep an eye on is Mike Vrabel, the former head coach of the Tennessee Titans and a protégé of Belichick.
According to ESPN, he is scheduled for an interview with Atlanta next week.
After three seasons as head coach, Arthur Smith was fired by the Falcons, and after 24 years and six Super Bowl championships, Belichick is free to choose.
Following New England’s season, he and the Patriots reached a mutual break agreement.
Belichick has 302 regular-season wins, which is 17 more than George Halas (318) in second place and 27 more than Don Shula (328) in the NFL all-time record.
