The Bucks, however, were worried about Curry’s ankles not holding up, so they wound up trading for Ellis instead.

The rest, as you know, is history.

Nonetheless, one would have to be very naive to think that was the only potential trade centered around the four-time NBA champion.

Recently, former Warriors GM Bob Myers revealed that he had to turn down his former mentor, Danny Ainge, and his multiple

attempts to trade for the only unanimous MVP in NBA history (via Warriors on NBC Sports).

“Look I was never upset with anybody asking, a GM’s job is to mine for trades, that’s a GM’s job. But [Danny] Ainge was the one

always asking.” Myers told Wojnarowski. “…I owe my career to Ainge so I [couldn’t] be upset, ‘return the favor, give me Curry’

(laughs). Everybody knew that was not happening so, it was a good laugh.”

Myers told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on his podcast that Ainge constantly tried to get Myers to ‘return him the favor’ by sending

him Curry, but he obviously never actually entertained the idea.

Well, you cannot blame him for trying.

Curry has been on a tier of his own in terms of point guards and shooters since 2015, and it will be a long while before someone takes

his spot as the undisputed alpha male in that position.

Needless to say, his presence in Boston would’ve propelled them to the top in the blink of an eye, and chances are Ainge would’ve

never left to join the Utah Jazz.

It seems like we’re always a trade away from changing the entire trajectory of NBA history, and Warriors fans should always be

thankful to Myers for holding on to the greatest player in franchise history.
