Cantwell arrived last year to great fanfare—especially considering that just eighteen months earlier,

he was valued at £40 million—and he settled in quickly.

The Englishman proved to be a wise addition for Beale as

he recorded five assists and six goals in his first 20 games for the Gers, including one against Celtic.

Although he hasn’t quite reached such heights in the current campaign, he has already contributed seven goals,

which may position him for some significant months to come.

Conway scored nine goals in the Championship and three in the EFL Cup during his breakout season in 2022–2023.

Former City manager Nigel Pearson had called Conway “lively” when he made his debut in 2021.

Conway has scored eight goals in 22 appearances this season,

including two against West Ham in their most recent FA Cup fixtures,

despite missing nine games due to a hamstring injury.

This certainly demonstrates his ability to compete with the best.

These statistics suggest that the forward may be a consistent threat for Clement in front of goal.

The important thing to remember is that the Scotland U21 international,

who was born in England, is still only 21 years old and should develop better over the next several years,

so Clement could want to move on him as soon as possible.

Cantwell proved his mettle when he arrived from the Championship the previous season,

and if Conway moves north of the border, there’s no question he could pull off the same feat.
