According to transfer expert Dean Jones,

Celtic have made an inquiry about Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt

as they try to strengthen their forward line.

After a patchy start to the season,

Brendan Rodgers will try to mold the Bhoys team to his liking. The only way the Hoops’

eight-point lead in the Scottish Premiership table may be reduced is if Rangers win their remaining match.

Although Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley have performed well this season, Rodgers will be concerned

about some of the other forwards’ patchy play.

He has identified Gelhardt as a possible candidate to join the attack as he looks to expand the attacking group.

Rangers, a Scottish rival, and West Bromwich Albion are among the teams eager to sign the “excellent” attacker,

who is now on a £15k-per-week contract at Elland Road.

Jones predicts that Celtic will likely try to sign him as a loan player.

It would be a loan move, I suppose. Given that he appears prepared to produce on the appropriate platform,

Gelhardt would be a good profile player, Jones told GiveMeSport.

Although he possesses amazing qualities, he may still need some improvement.

The fact that Rangers and Celtic are currently making inquiries on both fronts is not surprising.

It must give a player like Gelhardt more confidence to have those discussions going on around him at the moment.

It’s different whether they can materialize and become a transfer, but it doesn’t seem harmful to consider such scenario.

This month, Celtic has already strengthened its roster with the £3 million addition of Nicolas Kuhn,

a winger for Rapid Vienna. Gelhardt, though, would be a fantastic addition.

This season, the Leeds attacker has only managed two starts in the Championship.

The main reason the team refused to acquire additional strikers when Gelhardt first came

on the scene under Marcelo Bielsa was their concern that it would stunt his development.

He still has a ton of promise, but under Farke, he hasn’t performed up to pace.

For his development, a transfer to Celtic Park might be perfect.
