It seems Rangers are about to lose the race for Benfica full-back David Jurasek, meaning Philippe Clément will have to look elsewhere for new defender.

Just yesterday, we covered reports from Germany which said Hoffenheim had joined the competition for the 23-year-old’s winter signing.

Now as written by Portuguese newspaper Record, the Rangers target is indeed on his way to sign for the Bundesliga side and not heading to Ibrox.

It’s said Jurasek will play for Hoffenheim on a loan until the end of the season, with a buying option for an amount which is still to be revealed.

Benfica spent €14m to get Jurasek signed last summer, but he failed to impress in his first few months in Lisbon and it seems the club weren’t very patient

about his development.

It was for this reason that rumors of a potential winter transfer surfaced, with Rangers reportedly being one of the teams pursuing his signing.

Since the Eagles only want him gone, interested clubs may get quite imaginative with their bids because either a loan or a permanent move would work.

Rangers aren’t said to have made an official bid, though, and it appears Hoffenheim moved quickly to seal the transaction, forcing Philippe Clément and

other Ibrox residents to go elsewhere if they were genuinely interested.
