Motherwell blow

Mika Biereth, an attacker, has been called back by Arsenal following his season-long loan at Motherwell. Another loan move is planned. According to reports, Sheffield Wednesday is interested in signing the Denmark Under-21 international. “Mika has been recalled,” stated Stuart Kettlewell, manager of Motherwell. We’ve had a challenging one over the past twenty-four hours. It’s really, really disappointing. This came as a slight surprise. Just last week, there was a debate about Mika staying on until the end of the season, barring Arsenal receiving an offer they couldn’t refuse. They think there’s a chance to move him to a different club where he can advance beyond where we are right now.

Celtic rejects a £4 million offer.

Tiago Araujo of Estoril is reportedly a target for Celtic, although the Scottish champions are unwilling to pay his asking price. The Daily Record claims that the Portuguese team has priced the left-back out of a move to Parkhead by requesting a £4 million payment, which the Parkhead hierarchy is unwilling to do. It doesn’t appear probable that the 22-year-old would sign with Celtic during the January transfer window unless Estoril drastically lowers their asking price.

Ange returns for ex-Celtic target

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Spurs, is reportedly pursuing a center-back that he attempted to recruit for Celtic but was unable to. When Postecoglou initially arrived at Parkhead, Ko Itakura was connected to a move from Manchester City to Celtic, but he chose to go on loan to Schalke 04 before paying £4.3 million to join Borussia Mochengladbach. Now that he’s back on the scene, Postecoglou is allegedly considering taking the 26-year-old to Tottenham. The move might not occur until the summer, when his rumoured £13 million release clause expires, according to Sky Germany.

Three-way battle for Celtic defender

Serie A is reportedly showing more interest in Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke, who now looks to be at the focus of a three-way trade scuffle. After joining Celtic in the summer from IF Elfsborg, the Swedish centre back is only six months into a five-year contract. However, he will be free to leave on loan in January if he doesn’t make the first team. Hellas Verona has reportedly entered the running with Lecce and Genoa, who were previously connected to Lagerbielke during the window, according to the Daily Record.

Doig staying in Italy

It appears that Josh Doig will stay in Italy after his projected move to Marseille fell through. The Scotland Under-21 international’s current club, Hellas Verona, put a stop to the transaction after Sassuolo made a rival approach. He had already accepted terms of transfer to the Ligue 1 powerhouses and was ready to travel to France. Following Marseille’s withdrawal from the agreement, Verona is currently negotiating a more lucrative £5.1 million move with add-ons with their Serie A opponents. After Doig’s transfer is completed, Hibs will get a windfall of £1.5 million, which will be made up of payments still owed from the 18-month-old sale to Verona and a sell-on fee.

Dundee near EPL signing

According to reports, Dundee is getting closer to acquiring Ryan Astley, a centre back for Everton. According to Sky Sports, final negotiations are being held to enable the 22-year-old to clinch a permanent transfer to Dens Park. Because the Goodison Park club included a sell-on clause in the contract, Astley will depart on a free agent.

Hearts aim towards Dhanda

Yan Dhanda’s move to Hearts this month is contingent upon the Edinburgh club covering the midfielder’s transfer fee. Derek Adam, the manager of Ross County, is adamant that Dhanda will stay in Dingwall until the summer, when his contract expires, barring a strong offer for the player, which Hearts is more likely to wait until the summer to sign as a free agent. Adams reaffirmed: “We have not received any offers for him during this window.” Unless someone pays us a sum of money that we deem appropriate, we intend to keep him, and we will do so throughout this transfer window.”

Rangers’ most recent left-back

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is looking for a left-back, but according to reports in Portugal, David Jurasek of Benfica, who has been linked to a transfer to Ibrox, is going to Hoffenheim on loan. Given that Borna Barisic is approaching the last six months of his contract and that Ridvan Yilmaz is coveted by clubs in both Turkey and Italy, Clement has made it clear that he would not permit Yilmaz to leave the team until he finds a replacement. Jurasek, an international player for the Czech Republic, appears bound for the Bundesliga, therefore it seems unlikely that he will be the solution. Josh Doig, a Scotland U21 international for Hellas Verona, Gijs Smal of Twente Enschede, and Cameron Pring of Bristol City have also been linked to Rangers.

Hibs and winger connected

Hibs are said to have shown interest in Myziane Maolida, a winger for Hertha Berlin. Football Scotland reports that Hibs intends to entice the 24-year-old to Easter Road this month, with a summer transfer being considered as well. The Comoros international, who has not yet made an appearance for the Bundesliga 2 team this season, is reportedly of interest to Hana Rostock as well. Maolida has a contract with Hertha that expires in 2025, however there are rumours that Hertha would be open to compromising on a transfer fee for a player who is no longer seen as being a part of their future ambitions. He has played on loan at Reims and has previously played for Lyon and Nice.
