Celtic confirm third loan exit of the January transfer window

Celtic has announced that Mackenzie Carse, a young player, has signed a one-year loan deal to play for Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship.

Although the 19-year-old has not yet made his Hoops first-team debut, the Parkhead club has great expectations for him in the future.

And that is down to his incredible form with Celtic B in the Lowland League this campaign. Carse netted seven goals in 1 9 league games and will be hoping

to replicate that productivity with the Spiders.

This will be the midfielder’s first loan spell away from Celtic having played 64 times for the B side since debuting for Stephen McManus’ Bhoys in 2021.

Carse will link-up with fellow Celt Ben McPherson, who has already featured 19 times for Queen’s Park across three competitions so far this season.

Callum Davidson on Mackenzie Carse

Queen’s Park have made Mackenzie Carse their third addition of the January window and new boss Callum Davidson had his say after the loan was

confirmed.

He said: “In terms of building the squad this January a lot has been said about bringing in experience.

“We have already done that with Sean Welsh and are still working to recruit a few more players who fit that description, but adding Mackenzie guarantees

that we maintain the ideal balance between young, very skilled players and seasoned veterans.

“He is a player who has demonstrated via his performances for Celtic B this season that he is prepared to fight at a high level for a first team jersey.

“He’ll have the chance to compete here, and if he seizes it, he’ll have another chance to prove he can play at this caliber each and every week.”

Carse leaves Celtic this month as a loanee, following Kwon and Adam Montgomery, who have joined St Mirren and Motherwell, respectively.
