Buffalo Bills: If Elite Josh Allen Can’t Beat Patrick Mahomes Now, He Never Will

This week, the Buffalo Bills take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round—a very familiar opponent. This time, though, it will take place at Buffalo’s stadium, which hasn’t happened much in their recent meetings. In the

past five years, these teams have faced off six times; five of those encounters have taken place at Arrowhead, while

the postseason games have all taken place in Kansas City.

The Chiefs have had their worst season to date during the Patrick Mahomes era, and the fact that the Bills will finally

get to play them at home just serves to emphasize that.

Given that the Chiefs are among the top defensive teams in the league and recently won the Super Bowl, Mahomes’

worst season is still nothing to laugh at. All things considered, this is Josh Allen’s best chance to defeat their bigger

brother in the AFC, whom they have yet to defeat in the postseason.

The Bills will be motivated to overcome their setback and defeat the defending Super Bowl champions, as they have

suffered terrible losses to them in the playoffs. But there’s no reason to believe they will ever overcome that obstacle

if they can’t do it now.

This is the Buffalo Bills’ best chance of the season.

This season, the Chiefs were defeated by the Bills in the regular season when a very contentious call negated a

spectacular play that gave the Chiefs the lead with nearly no time remaining in the game. At the conclusion of the

game, Mahomes went across the field to shake hands with Allen. Then, in a very conceited and juvenile way,

Mahomes berated Allen for the call.

The fact that the Bills have yet to exact true retribution on the franchise that has eliminated them twice from the

playoffs should also set Allen and the team’s tailspin on fire.

The Chiefs have looked incredibly beatable this year, and now they have to travel for the first time under Mahomes to

compete in the playoffs. This is the best opportunity it’s been ever had to defeat them.

Stefon Diggs ought likely be primed as well, having observed the Chiefs’ postseason celebration while remaining on

the field a couple years ago after the Bills fell to them. Buffalo is fully motivated, and they are aware that since Allen

joined the team, they have not had a better opportunity to defeat Kansas City. To ultimately defeat their AFC rival,

they must give it everything they have on the field.
