Troy Aikman discusses Bill Belichick as Cowboys coach if Mike McCarthy is fired
Following the Dallas Cowboys’ disappointing wild-card exit on Sunday, questions about Mike McCarthy’s
employment future are persistent.
After three seasons as the Cowboys’ coach, McCarthy has led the team to 36-15 regular season and 1-3 postseason results.
Hall of Fame Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman was asked about McCarthy’s employment situation while he appeared on the Stephen A.
Smith Show. McCarthy is the coach of six Super Bowl victories.
“I understand the Bill Belichick argument, and if there were a change it would seem like that’s the one that makes the most
sense,” Aikman said.
“I’ve heard some say, ‘Well could Jerry (Jones) work with Bill?’ My answer to that is he worked with Bill Parcells; he gave up
a little bit, but I don’t think Jerry gave up as much as a lot of people would suggest.
Belichick parted ways with New England after 24 seasons. The only team he’s interviewed with so far is Atlanta.
Firing McCarthy is more about getting one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history.
Any prediction regarding the matter is conjecture, as there are no reports suggesting a decision has been taken regarding McCarthy.
“Will something be altered? Personally, I don’t think that will occur,” Aikman remarked.
And Jerry’s age of eighty-one is a contributing factor in the solution. Does he wish to experience again another regimen, new
coaches, and all the associated costs?
I believe that many people may have the wrong idea about how easy or straightforward it is.
