Report: James Harden Expected To Re-Sign With Clippers
James Harden is anticipated to re-sign with the Los Angeles Clippers this summer, said NBA insider Marc Stein.
After this season, Harden becomes an unrestricted free agent.
While James Harden, who is not eligible for an in-season contract extension,
will have to wait until the summer to extend his tenure in Clipperland, according to Stein.
On November 1, 2023, the Clippers acquired Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers. The future Hall of Famer Harden asked to be traded from the Sixers to the Clippers, and he has performed admirably for LAC.
A ten-time All-Star, Harden shoots 45.6% from the field, 41.9% from beyond the arc, and 87.3% from the free-throw line while dishing out 17.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.9 blocks on average. With “The Beard” in the starting lineup, the Clippers are 22-12 and he has 10 double-doubles.
Last Monday, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers agreed to a three-year, $150 million contract extension. When free agency commences, Harden will re-sign with the team, and Paul George is anticipated to sign an extension shortly.
“I believe that most players are returning,” Leonard remarked following the signing of his contract renewal. “I believe that by signing the extension, we now have the opportunity to sign both of those players.”
Averaging 24.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks over his career, Harden—who turns 35 in August—has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Sixers, and Clippers. Make seven All-NBA teams, that’s how. With the Rockets, the lefty took home the MVP Award for 2017–18.
