Prior to the 2024 summer break, Aston Villa is looking into possible free agent possibilities. Before his contract expires in the summer, Lazio has

shown interest in Felipe Anderson, a former West Ham player. Unai Emery has also been offered the chance to sign Leonardo Spinazzola from Roma,

a possibility that is being discussed. Of course, the best thing about these guys is that there would be no transfer fees involved.

Villa’s goal is to bolster their roster with one or more big-name acquisitions, reserving the entirety of their transfer money for a few high-profile

acquisitions in front of what may be their first Champions League season since the 1980s.

Monchi may finally get his man

There’s been talk of another soon-to-be free agent being linked. According to rumors in Spain, Villa is expected to sign Mario Hermoso from Atletico

Madrid this summer. With Emery’s blessing, sporting director Monchi hopes to bring Hermoso to England after considering signing him twice while he was at Sevilla.

Hermoso has determined that “a change of scenery” would be beneficial for his career, and Atletico has been unable to come to an agreement with him

on a new contract. The defender has “no intention” of making a winter exit and is instead considering a summer move to Villa Park, despite Diego

Simeone’s team trying to “pressure” him to leave this month so they can cash in.

illa has already given Hermoso the opportunity to “more than double” his Atletico pay as part of a four-year contract because they want to make sure

that the transaction is effectively done as soon as possible to prevent any outside “temptations” from occurring. Therefore, to prevent the migration

from happening, a “extraordinary” proposal from somewhere in England or Spain would be required.

Hermoso faces big battle at Villa

Hermoso rose through Real Madrid’s youth divisions. In 2019, he left Espyanol to play for cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid after two years there. He

has played with Los Rojiblancos for 153 games, and he was a member of the team that won the Spanish championship in 2020–21 after defeating Real

Madrid and Barcelona.

Hermoso advanced through the Real Madrid youth ranks. After spending two years at Espyanol, he moved to play for Atletico Madrid, a cross-town

rival, in 2019. After defeating Real Madrid and Barcelona, he was a part of the Los Rojiblancos club who won the Spanish title in 2020–21. He has

played for the team for 153 games.
