Forecast for Next Round of NFL Playoffs: More Havoc

Mother Nature is still interfering with the playoffs as we approach the divisional round,

following wild-card weekend, when unfavourable weather made NFL history on several fronts.

After their first-round game was postponed until Monday, the Buffalo Bills were already scheduled to play their opponents on two fewer days’ rest when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.

Now that more heavy snow is falling on Western New York,

the Bills may have to consider postponing some of their workouts this week.

Although Buffalo has an indoor practice centre, players’ commutes from their residences to the facility can be dangerous due to the current weather.

Due to inclement weather, the Buffalo Sabres’ game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night has been rescheduled for Thursday.

The Bills are inactive for the remainder of the week despite practicing on Wednesday.

Coach Sean McDermott of the Bills stated on Wednesday,

“We’ll reset the table tonight and keep working on the game plan as well as work on our weather plan.”

Although it seems unlikely that the weather would force a postponement of Sunday’s game, it is predicted to be below freezing at kickoff.

It might be in the teens on Saturday night when the Ravens play the Houston Texans in Baltimore.

As many fans are getting over the fourth-coldest NFL game ever played at Arrowhead Stadium last Saturday night, sub-freezing forecasts have been issued.

After receiving close to 70 calls from game-goers, Kansas City first responders sent 15 spectators to the hospital, seven of whom had hypothermia and three of whom had frostbite.

Breaking Out

During the Chiefs’ victory against the Dolphins, a piece of Patrick Mahomes’ helmet broke,

and the star quarterback attributed the failure, at least partially, to the chilly temperature.

The manufacturer of Mahomes’ helmet, VICIS, stated that while the gear

“did its job” in keeping Mahomes safe, harsh environments like Kansas City’s bitter cold are

“bound to test the limits” of their creations.
