FRISCO: In my opinion, a moment of complete disclosure is necessary before talking about

the connections between Dez Bryant and Jason Garrett.

Garrett and I have a wonderful personal relationship that has lasted for thirty years,

and I have high regard for him.

Bryant and I have a wonderful personal relationship that has lasted for 14 years,

and I have high regard for him.

Therefore, in contrast to some, I do not find it amusing that the two “Cowboys for Life”

no longer have a strong bond, primarily as a result of Bryant leaving the team in….XXX.

And while it is “provocative” in a newsworthy way when Dez takes his public shots at his old coach,

regardless of whether he feels justified in doing so -,

I think it’s bad for “America’s Team.”

And, of course, awful for Garrett. Perhaps less visibly, terrible news for Dez as well.

However, here we are, with Bryant taking yet another jab at social media over a

discussion about Dallas owning the No. 24 pick in the April NFL Draft.

As you are aware, Dez and two other exceptional players, Tyler Smith and Calvin Hill,

were also selected with the No. 24 pick. Jon Machota, a beat journalist, made a great point in a tweet.

Bryant made an unpleasant remark after that, calling Garrett a

“Clapper” and referring to himself as a “monster” (in a good way).

The old joke centres on Garrett’s propensity of aggressively “clapping” during games on the sidelines,

sometimes for no apparent reason.

Garrett was Bryant’s head coach for the most of his nine-year stay in Dallas.

Had they not been involved in that notorious defeat in Green Bay,

where Bryant made the catch and Garrett oversaw the call,

and Dallas lost a postseason game, perhaps everything would have turned out differently.

Perhaps Dez is troubled by it all again after this week’s playoff defeat to the same Packers.

And so, we find ourselves back in “Dez vs. Garrett.”

It’s also newsworthy. It’s also provocative. It’s also… regrettable.
