The Dallas Cowboys’ season is ended after they were defeated by the Green Bay Packers 48-32.

This one left us with a lot of questions rather than many reasons for celebration.

The special teams performed poorly, the defence played even worse,

and the offence was subpar. After seeing the game film again, let’s examine the lessons that may be drawn from it.

RUNNING WILD

The effortless way in which Green Bay was able to run the ball over the defence was more of an issue than the Cowboys’ defence failing to contain the Packers‘ running game. Too frequently, there were large, free roads to traverse. The Packers performed a fantastic job of rearranging players and diverting potential tacklers. Once they reached the second floor, they blocked off the defenders. They displayed a masterful blocking display, leaving the Cowboys’ defence absolutely impotent.

BITES OF LOVE

If the Packers hadn’t had such an easy time passing the ball, their running game might have been even more devastating. Jordan Love made good use of the 21 passes he tried during the day. The Cowboys were unable to exert sufficient pressure, and when they did, Love would erratically move into open space and misplace his rear foot. For Cowboys fans, it is unsettling to see that he resembled the player who used to take the snap under centre for the Packers.

The Packers made plans knowing just how much time he had left. The Packers’ receivers were left wide open as a result of the Cowboys’ defence dozing off during these slower-moving plays.

THE LITTLE THINGS MATTER

This isn’t as bad as it has been in the past because the Cowboys weren’t exactly great with penalties, but the kind of infractions is still unacceptable. Every game seems to have them jumping offsides. DeMarcus Lawrence, their most astute seasoned defender, was unable to control himself. Although the penalty only lost them a few yards, it altered the play-calling choices available to the Packers, allowing them to rely more heavily on Aaron Jones on third down.

CAN’T TAKE A SACK, DAK

Dak Prescott’s second-quarter sack will also be classified in the “does it really matter” category. After trailing 14-0, the Cowboys sorely needed seven points on this drive. Mike McCarthy will probably go for it on fourth down if Prescott simply throws the ball away because they are in that grey area of the field. The intricacy of the game script might have changed if that drive had been maintained. He may have also decided to attempt a field goal there. But a sack compelled the punting unit to enter the game.

NOT-SO SPECIAL TEAMS

Without a doubt, the Cowboys’ special teams unit has performed admirably this season. This season, they have used near-perfect kicking and blocked punts as tools. However, this group is not immune to error. Catch interference was called against Sam Williams, who was previously flagged for roughing the punter throughout the season, because he was unable to maintain a safe distance from Packers returner Jayden Reed.

DAKARTHENHEIMER

The Cowboys offence on Sunday has a plethora of issues. The defence of the Packers was poised and ready to attack. Prescott didn’t seem to have many excellent options in the beginning, and he occasionally made bad choices and threw into coverage. Playcalling and Prescott both share some of the blame because they were unable to identify the weaknesses in the Packers’ defence.

And this one sequence is the epitome of the Cowboys offense on Sunday.
