In order to permit the SFA to broadcast any VAR audio,

referees in the Scottish Premiership have demanded a greater pay each game.

Due to recent events, such as Rangers’ demands for a penalty against Celtic last month,

top division whistleblowers have been left feeling let down and incensed by the governing body’s lack of support.

Gers savaged the decision not to award the spot-kick for an Alistair Johnston handball by

insisting on hearing the VAR tape featuring Willie Collum.

The club was remained incensed when the SFA played the recording,

and they released a statement demanding greater openness during the tit-for-tat with

the SFA along with numerous other statements.

Referees, however, have now stated that they will cooperate with any plans to

make audio available as long as they receive a rise in their £900 match pay per match.

An anonymous referee stated, “The leadership have no idea of the pressures

we are under and they’re just not prepared to support us properly,” in an interview with the BBC last night.

“We require improved training and increased investment.

They greatly underestimate the pressures that come with the profile,

but they rely a lot on the kindness of the referees.

“VAR has only made that worse, and occasionally we feel like we’re not even here.”

The Scottish Sun said that the Beeb call-in infuriated Hampden chiefs.

This same outlet says they’re left “baffled” with the SFA.

According to an SFA representative, “The Scottish FA will continue to support match officials in

the face of wholly unacceptable abuse and intrusion,

disproportionate criticism, and intense and imbalanced media scrutiny.”

The matchday fees are paid by the SPFL.
