Another update on Ridvan Yilmaz’s transfer has come from Italy, where it is being said that the Rangers

defender is already being signed by Hellas Verona, a Serie A team, “well-directed.”

The Italian daily stated on page 12 of their print edition [January 16, 2019] that Verona is still

attempting to close the deal to replace Josh Doig during the January transfer window.

This has coincided with connections to Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray, who allegedly had Rangers reject a £3.4 million loan-to-buy offer out of hand.

Talks are starting to speed up

Yilmaz has been widely expected to leave Ibrox since the January transfer window opened,

with Verona always seeming his most likely destination as their interest has been long-standing, with talks ongoing since the beginning of the window.

Galatasaray’s interest, meanwhile, has emerged more recently, although it is claimed the defender would opt

against moving to the Turkish outfit through loyalty to his former club Besiktas and the rivalry between the two clubs.

With just two weeks remaining in the transfer window, Verona is in a good position to complete Yilmaz’s

departure from Ibrox, but the talks will need to pick up speed in order to bring it over the finish line.

Rangers will also need to find a replacement for Yilmaz, since he has struggled with injuries this season and is most

likely to leave Ibrox when his contract expires. If Yilmaz leaves, Rangers may only have Borna Barisic at left defence.
