BREAKING: Bills RB Leonard Fournette Cut From Practice Squad
In preparation for their AFC Divisional playoff matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Highmark Stadium, the Buffalo Bills are making a significant roster change.
The Bills are cutting veteran running back Leonard Fournette off the practice squad, according to ESPN‘s Field Yates. On October 30, he became a team member. Fournette was a talented player who had previously played well for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with whom he shared a Super Bowl championship. The Bills had hoped to add depth behind James Cook and Latavius Murray by adding Fournette to the practice squad halfway through the season, but Ty Johnson took over as the starting RB3.
When Fournette joined the Tampa Bay offense last season, it was once again Super Bowl-or-bust for Tom Brady and company. Nevertheless, the Bucs concluded with the lowest rushing offense in the league by a wide margin, averaging the fewest rushing yards per game (76.9), with five rushing touchdowns and the lowest average yards per carry (3.4). It seemed like he would be headed for a second Super Bowl ring with the Bills in the thick of things, but those dreams now seem shattered unless Buffalo welcomes him back in the last few days of this postseason run.
