Bills part ways with Leonard Fournette after playoff win vs. Steelers

Leonard Fournette is about to go. Following their victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday in the AFC Wild Card round, the Buffalo Bills are still alive. Despite the inclement weather that preceded the game, Josh Allen was

the star of the show. The next game is at Buffalo against the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes. But for an

undisclosed reason, the Bills have chosen to split ways with veteran running back Leonard Fournette, according to

Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.

“RB Leonard Fournette was released from the practice squad, but Sean McDermott said he won’t go into that, just

saying they wish him well.”

Despite signing a contract late in the regular season, Fournette never received a lot of playing time. Just 40 yards

were gained on 12 carries by him in his two games of action, seven of which came in the championship game against

the Miami Dolphins.

After rushing for 668 yards and three touchdowns for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the previous season, Fournette

was cut and was not signed by another club until the Bills took a chance in October.

James Cook, who led the team with 237 carries, 1,122 yards, and two touchdowns this season, has been a huge asset

to the Bills. As Cook’s backups, Latavius Murray and Ty Johnson have performed admirably, thus Fournette did not

have much room.

In the AFC playoffs, the Chiefs and Bills will square off once more; the previous meetings have produced plenty of

exciting moments. The game takes place in Buffalo on Sunday night.
