Titans land interview with Eagles OC Brian Johnson for HC job

The Tennessee Titans, who fired Mike Vrabel, are interviewing candidates in search of their next head coach while the NFL Playoffs continue. The offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, Brian Johnson, is reportedly the first on the Titans’ long list of prospective coaches.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said on Monday that “the #Titans requested to interview #Eagles OC Brian Johnson for their vacant HC opening, source said.”

“That interview, along with Bobby Slowik, Dan Quinn, Aaron Glenn, Ben Johnson, and possibly others, should take place at some point after his team plays today.”

Apart from Quinn, the Cowboys defensive coordinator, it appears like most of the potential Titans head coach contenders are still competing in the NFL Playoffs, including Brian Johnson. OC Ben Johnson of the Detroit Lions and DC Glenn of the Texans are the two coordinators on that list.

It’s an interesting decision to interview Brian Johnson. The Philly offense under Shane Steichen went from ranking second in points scored and yards in 2022 to ranking seventh in points and ninth in yards under Johnson, earning the Eagles offensive coordinator a lot of flak this season.

While Glenn would also assist the Titans in adhering to the Rooney Rule, which is intended to encourage interviews for minority candidates, Brian Johnson does.
