Rangers ‘target’ £2 million rated EFL Championship defender as full back chase hots up

According to rumours, Rangers is reportedly considering a move for Bristol City left back Cameron Pring.

The Gers boss, Philippe Clement, has highlighted a left back as one of his top priorities in the transfer window,

with Turkish defender Ridvan Yilmaz getting closer to leaving Ibrox this January.

The 25-year-old is the most recent player to be connected with a move for the £2 million-rated player.

In addition to the loan signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva,

the Belgian manager stated that supporters should “expect”

the club to make moves in this window as he wants a left back and another striker.

This month, he has also been linked to bids for a midfield player.

Josh Doig, a former Hibs left back and Scotland international, has been linked for a few weeks now,

and Gijs Smal of FC Twente has also been linked to a cheap move to Glasgow. The ‘athletic’ defender Pring,

nevertheless, is reportedly a possibility for Clement to consider this window as

the need for a left back specialist grows in significance.

Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Clement is attempting to entice the entire back to

the team during current transfer window,

but given the player’s stellar start to the season, the Bristol City administration may be hesitant to sell.

The defender has made appearances in 26 of his team’s games thus far and has contributed two assists.

With Pring starting in nearly every game since his arrival in November,

new head coach Liam Manning has the Robins just four points out of sixth place in

the chase for an EFL Championship play-off spot.

Additionally, the defender’s contract expires in 2026, so the team won’t be forced to sell.

After losing to Hertha Berlin 1-0 in a preseason friendly over the weekend,

Rangers will play FC Copenhagen at Ibrox tomorrow when they return to Scotland.
