Bill Belichick has shown his feelings on Dallas Cowboys as NFL job links emerge
Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has already voiced his love for Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. This
occurs as conjecture around his potential consideration for a coaching position with the Cowboys intensifies.
For the first time in this century, Belichick, 71, is unemployed in the NFL, but he hasn’t made any indication that he plans to
retire. If the Cowboys choose to fire Mike McCarthy, they would soon join the seven other clubs who are searching for new
head coaches.
Despite their shock defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round, the Cowboys would still be a highly sought-after
job. Among the other teams with vacancies, only the Seattle Seahawks finished the regular season with a winning record.
Belichick has recently spoken positively about the Cowboys. After the Patriots’ heavy defeat in Dallas in Week 4, he singled out
owner Jerry Jones for praise and made it clear he has admiration for the franchise.
“I have a ton of respect for Jerry and [director of player personnel Stephen Jones] and the way they run the organization down
there,” Belichick stated. “They’ve been successful for decades. With Jimmy [Johnson], they were truly the team of the 1990s,
and they have performed well. Every year, they have been competitive—obviously better than competitive. There have been
many excellent players there.
On FOX’s halftime show, former head coach Johnson expressed his dissatisfaction with the Cowboys’ play after they let up 27
points without answering. Owner Jones, meanwhile, was rendered virtually speechless.
“This seems like the most painful (playoff loss) because we all had such great expectations and had hope for this team,” he
said. “I’m floored. I don’t understand this at all.”
He added: “Didn’t see that coming at all. If you had told me (before the game) that we had scored 32 points, I would have
thought we had won.” When asked about their head coach, he remained tight-lipped. “I haven’t thought one second (about
McCarthy’s future),” Jones confessed.
On how much their final game of the season will influence his decision, he said: “I give a lot to today. I’ll give a lot to everything
we’ve done. I weigh it a lot of ways”
