According to The Herald, Rangers have agreed to a TV rights swap deal with Sky Sports,

opening up a new and lucrative cash stream.

On Sunday, December 14, the magazine announced on its website that as a result of the agreement,

there will be an additional live match from Ibrox on the satellite channel for the balance of the current season.

The Herald further stated that the club has been granted permission

to air two more home games on Pay Per View in exchange.

“The club already beam out live from every match to the rest of the world but

only five Ibrox contests can be shown in the UK as part of the TV deal,” according to The Herald.

British fans will now be able to pay for an additional two home games directly from

the club on demand thanks to the new agreement.

“The agreement is the result of the Rangers hierarchy and Sky,

led by CEO James Bisgrove and new commercial director Karim Virani,

developing a relationship behind the scenes.”

Positive news

The Rangers’ higher authorities would be grateful for any financial assistance,

and the good news is sure to please the supporters as well.

Naturally, fans find it difficult to travel to the stadiums to watch games,

so they will be grateful for this Pay Per View option.

This will be especially true in the upcoming months since

the team will continue to play on Thursdays in Europe,

which will result in an increase in Sunday matchups.

Naturally, Gers boss Philippe Clement will be more concerned with

his players’ performances at Ibrox and elsewhere than with the TV rights agreement.

This is a pivotal time for the manager and the club,

as they aim to win the Scottish Premiership and have had success in the Scottish Cup and Europa League.

Although supporters will be itching to see the Gers play Celtic,

there are a number of other crucial games that might potentially determine the team’s destiny this season.
