Rangers inch closer to reported £12m international as Romano tips Man United domino
Fabrizio Romano has given Manchester United defender Alvaro Fernandez the Benfica Here We Go treatment,
as Rangers go one step closer to signing David Jurasek.
The Italian journalist Romano is credited with popularising the term.
He uses it when he believes a deal is almost final and Benfica appears to have their man.
Romano reports on X that Manchester United has agreed to the personal details of the deal,
which call for the Spanish left-back to play at the Estadio de Luz until the end of the campaign.
Rangers supporters will be closely monitoring Alvaro Fernandez’s status in
light of recent connections to Benfica left-back David Jurasek.
The transfer contains an option-to-buy clause.
The 20-year-old Fernandez has been on loan at La Liga team Granada for the first half of the season.
David Jurasek to the Rangers, Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica?
First mentioned in an exclusive story by HITC and reporter Graeme Bailey,
who provided an update on Alvaro Fernandez’s Manchester United status,
were Rangers’ connections to David Jurasek.
According to the report, which claims the option-to-buy deal is worth £8.5 million,
Rangers are also considering a possible Ibrox loan agreement for Czech international Jurasek.
Jurasek, who was reportedly signed for £12 million from Slavia Prague in the summer,
hasn’t had success in Portugal, and more competition is now entering his field.
Whilst we don’t suspect Benfica will be writing off their large investment just yet,
if reports are to believed the deal for Alvaro Fernandez nudges Rangers closer to signing David Jurasek.
Since then, sources from Portugal have confirmed those initial claims,
with A Bola stating Rangers is up against fierce competition to recruit the 23-year-old.
The transfer dominoes for left-backs begin to fall.
For what seems like the entire transfer window,
Rangers have been connected to a left-back transfer due to rumours of significant turmoil in the team.
Loyal full-back Borna Barisic doesn’t seem to be leaving, but Ridvan Yilmaz’s circumstances are still confusing.
Ridvan began the team’s friendly loss to Hertha Berlin in the middle of the season,
despite significant rumours that the Turkish international would be moving on loan to Verona in Serie A.
This whole transfer scenario involves a number of moving parts.
Verona left-back Josh Doig is reportedly being courted by Marseille,
which will free up room in the Italian team’s roster for Ridvan Yilmaz.
Alvaro Fernandez’s move to Benfica appears to be the first domino to fall,
while Al-Hilal’s £17 million acquisition of Marseille left-back Renan Lodi appears to be the second big piece to fall.
