Chicago Bears Dismiss Senior Vice President Cliff Stein

With the highly esteemed, 22-year veteran departing, the Bears will be looking to hire a new General Counsel. The Chicago Bears were anticipated to make changes during the off-season. It also turns out that both their coaching

staff and front office are undergoing adjustments. This shift is aimed at the highest levels of the company.

Cliff Stein, who holds the impressive title of Senior Vice President and General Counsel, has reportedly departed the

corporation, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Cliff departs the company after 22 years in a variety of capacities, chief among them being that of their devoted

financial salary cap specialist.

As of right now, no succession plan—if any—is known.

CEO and Team President Kevin Warren seems to have determined that going forward, senior leadership changes

were necessary. The only other individual to have worked under the pay cap for the Bears was Joey Laine, who was

fired by general manager Ryan Poles in 2022 after being recruited by former Bears general manager Ryan Pace in

2015. Joey Laine currently works for the Green Bay Packers in a similar role.

Cliff Stein continued to serve as the organization’s senior advisor and general counsel to the executive leadership

during Joey Laine’s tenure. According to a person with knowledge of the matter, he also had an interview for the

team president post with the Bears last year. It’s unclear what will happen next.
