Barry Ferguson believes that in the current transfer window,

Rangers manager Philippe Clement needs to bring in a striker and a winger.

In the current transfer window, Rangers have been connected to a number of players.

Clement has made his first signing as manager of the Gers in the form of loaning Wolves’ Fabio Silva.

In addition, the Belgian strategist has allowed summer signing Sam Lammers to sign with Utrecht on loan,

even if Abdallah Sima is unavailable since he is playing in the Africa Cup of Nations,

while Danilo and Kemar Roofe are injured.

Ferguson praised Clement for his decision to allow Lammers, who was having trouble settling in at Ibrox,

to go on loan, saying the Rangers manager did so in order to free up salary for possible additions.

The former player for the Gators also emphasised that Clement needs to

concentrate on strengthening his forward lineup this month because a number of players are out and that

the Rangers manager needs to sign a striker and a winger during the current transfer window.

Ferguson stated in his Daily Record column that “that’s [letting Lammers leave on loan] good management in

my book and I’m also positive he has made that decision to free up some

wages for at least one more January signing.”

Maybe even two. He currently needs to strengthen

his attacking alternatives because Kemar Roofe and Danilo are still several months away from returning,

while Abdallah Sima is away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“Yes, he has people who can work in broad areas, like Rabbi Matondo and Scott Wright,

but let’s face it—these men weren’t starters when the opportunity opened.

“When they come off the bench, both of them have a greater effect.

“That implies Clement needs to be watching a winger,

and I think he’ll be looking for a striker to take on Cyriel Dessers.”

It’s unclear if Rangers will be able to add players to their roster before the start of the season.

They are scheduled to play Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup on January 20.
