According to Scottish Daily Mail, Hellas Verona is set to submit a formal offer in an attempt to acquire Rangers defender Ridvan Yilmaz.

In the print edition of the newspaper (January 13, Page 109),

it was claimed that should the Italian team avoid relegation,

the initial loan agreement might become a buyout commitment.

The Turkey international has not lived up to the hype at Ibrox,

despite his claims to be Borna Barisic’s long-term replacement.

Move swiftly

Rangers’ desire to break ways with Yilmaz is justified because his time there hasn’t lived up to expectations.

The 22-year-old Turkish international was signed in 2022 for a hefty cost of £3.4 million,

with the possibility of an additional £5.5 million,

but he was unable to establish himself as the expected long-term replacement to Barisic.

For the left back position, the Turk found it difficult to put enough pressure on Barisic,

which led to his lacklustre tenure at Ibrox.

There are two reasons to address the left-back position before the Croatian’s contract ends in the summer:

first, Yilmaz’s departure is necessary to reorganise the team and give

him the opportunity to start over somewhere else.

Rangers must decide whether to secure Barisic’s contract extension or locate a

worthy replacement because of his uncertain future.

Rangers must act quickly to resolve these left-back issues in the next two weeks in order to maintain

defensive strength and squad consistency throughout the remainder of the season.
