Oscar Zambrano, a midfielder for LDU Quito, may be a “sensational” addition to the Rangers, according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who assesses the likelihood of a move to Ibrox.

Although Philippe Clement’s tenure with the Glasgow giants has gone quite well so far, he intends to get support during the winter transfer window of 2024 in order to mount an attack for the Scottish Premiership championship.

Earlier in the season, the Light Blues saw a transitional summer market. They will be keen to make sure that, as the second half of the 2023–2024 season approaches, their company is more sharp and profitable. Zambrano has drawn interest from two Scottish Premiership teams as well as Premier League suitors from the south of the border.

Rangers are contemplating a bold bid to acquire Zambrano.

Clement has experienced a strong start to his management career with Rangers following his October 2023 appointment. In the second half of the 2023–2024 season, he intends to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title. After securing the Viaplay Cup earlier in the season, the Belgian has led the Gers to the fourth round of the Scottish Cup and the final sixteen of the Europa League. Clement will be conscious, too, that Rangers may need to make additions in order to advance after their nine summer window recruits produced a mixed bag of results.

According to writer Graeme Bailey (via HITC), both Rangers and Celtic have been watching Zambrano but are expected to miss out on his signing to AFC Bournemouth. The midfielder from Ecuador, who is often likened to his native Moises Caicedo, appears to be close to signing a contract to play at Vitality Stadium, with Andoni Iraola’s south coast team dominating the chase. Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brighton & Hove Albion have also contemplated a move for the 19-year-old South American.

The Sun claims that a dispute over Zambrano’s right to a certain portion of the transaction is preventing the transfer to Bournemouth from happening right now. The adolescent is asked to forego the 15% he is entitled to in order to seal the deal, even though Luton Town and the Cherries are willing to pay the £5.5 million needed to get his signature. Could Rangers be able to bid later for Zambrano’s services as a result of this?

Dean Jones: Zambrano is a “unbelievable player” that the Rangers will be signing.

Jones thinks the Rangers’ approach to building Clement’s team will shift as a result of Zambrano’s signing. The reporter is aware that Bournemouth is probably going to be in the lead in the fight to recruit the midfield player. Jones stated to GIVEMESPORT

This would be a sensational transfer if you could persuade someone like this to pick Rangers over some of the clubs that have been linked with him across recent months.

“The signs have been that he would end up in the Premier League. As I understand it, Bournemouth continue to be interested in the player and would be the team probably leading the race to sign him. But that doesn’t mean they win the race. There have to be other considerations as to what will suit him.

“But if Rangers could somehow get involved with that and win the battle by signing him, they would be acquiring an unbelievable player that completely changes the landscape for how they could look to build that team.”
