NFL Dismisses Rumour That Cleveland Could Host the Steelers-Bills Game Owing to Weather

According to a rumour that the NFL has denied, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills‘ AFC wild-card game on Sunday in Orchard Park,

New York, could be shifted to Cleveland owing to bad weather.

A snow storm that is predicted to level the Buffalo area may lead to the declaration of a state of emergency for western New York.

The league stated that, notwithstanding this potential, the rumour that the game may be shifted to Ohio on Thursday is untrue.

The league had inquired about the prospect of holding the game at Cleveland Browns Stadium,

according to a tweet made by Pittsburgh radio station Marty Gryphon on X, formerly Twitter.

Additionally, he said that attendees should “be ready” for the change in venue.

NFL vice president of communications Brian McCarthy stated,

“We are monitoring conditions as we do for every game,

but there have been no discussions about making a change to the game’s status,”

according to WGRZ-TV in Buffalo.

Gryphon removed his initial tweet,

but on Thursday morning, he shared an explanation.

“So my friends that are electricians in Cleveland work each game setting up production,”

Gryphon stated on X.

“In the event that the Bills’ [sic] Steelers game gets rescheduled,

they were asked if they could work this weekend.

All I know is that.

Perhaps Cleveland was the one to offer the NFL the facility.”

A winter storm warning has been issued by the US National Weather Service for the Buffalo region,

effective from 1 a.m. ET on Saturday until 7 a.m. on Monday.

From Saturday afternoon through Monday morning,

Orchard Park is expected to receive one to two feet of snow, according to Accuweather.

It would be logistically challenging for the NFL to move the game within two days of kickoff,

even with the projected challenging travel conditions in the Buffalo area.

Thus, on Sunday, the game will undoubtedly take place in Orchard Park.

Kickoff from Highmark Stadium is scheduled at 1 p.m. ET.

CBS is the network on which the show airs.
