Chicago Bears place request to interview Shane Waldron for offensive coordinator

The Chicago Bears have unveiled their top contender for offensive coordinator.

About a dozen hours after they let go of Luke Getsy,

the team asked to speak with Shane Waldron,

the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks,

on Wednesday night, according to a report from Tom Pelissero.

With Pete Carroll out of the picture,

Waldron and the other assistants were allowed to hunt for other employment,

raising doubts about the future of coaching in Seattle.

He will, nevertheless, be a well-liked name on coaching boards all throughout the league.

After calling plays for the Seattle offence for three years,

Waldron was appointed as their offensive coordinator in 2021.

With stints with the Washington Redskins (2016),

Los Angeles Rams (2017–20),

and New England Patriots (2016),

he has experience with every team in the league (2008-09).

At the press conference on Wednesday,

a question was posed to Eberflus regarding the qualities he would consider in job applicants.

It goes without saying that you want a fantastic teacher.

That’s crucial, in my opinion,

as he must mentor the mentors in order to mentor the job, according to Eberflus.

That, in my opinion, is the most important quality in a great coach.

The most crucial element, in my opinion,

is that you have to be able to use creativity to truly assess your players

and be able to help them develop and position them to succeed, acquire explosives,

and move the ball down the pitch.

The largest component, in my opinion, will be creativity,

followed by the innovator and teacher components.”

Under Waldron, the Seahawks enjoyed their greatest season in 2022,

coming in ninth in total points and thirteenth in total yards.
