Bears choose HC Matt Eberflus in an unexpected move.

A number of coaches were fired by the Chicago Bears on Wednesday, but it is said that the team’s head coach would stay in his post.

Reporters’ opinions on whether 53-year-old Matt Eberflus should continue working for his current company were

divided in the wake of his news.

One of the main unanswered issues is whether Justin Fields will stay the Bears’ starting quarterback going forward

or if the organization will use the No. 1 overall choice this spring to target USC signal-caller Caleb Williams. During

his first three seasons in the league, Fields has been inconsistent but has also displayed moments of greatness.

During his rookie season, the 2021 first-round pick started 10 games; in 2022, he formally assumed the role of full-time starter.

Fields completed the season with an 85.2 passer rating in 15 games, a 60.4 completion % for 2,242 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

In addition, he led the NFL in sacks (55), fumbles (16), and running yards (1,143), ranking eighth in the league. He

also scored eight touchdowns on the ground.

Fields finished the season ranked tenth in the MVP standings.

The 24-year-old concluded the 2023 season with marginally better figures through the air but less work on the ground after missing four games due to injury.

The addition of star wide receiver D.J. Moore in the summer, who had the finest season of his six-year career with 96

receptions for 1,364 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, was partially responsible for that.

With 2,562 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, nine interceptions, and an 86.3 passer rating at the end of the 2023

season, Fields finished with a 61.4 completion percentage. He also added 657 running yards and four touchdowns on the ground via 124 carries.

After four seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, Eberflus was hired as Chicago’s inaugural head coach in January 2022.

Prior to the Bears’ Week 18 matchup with the Green Bay Packers last week, team president Kevin Warren steered clear of the subject of Eberflus’s future with the group.

Although there is still no confirmation, it appears that the former Toledo linebacker will return to the Windy City in 2024.
