Scott Brown says Celtic have proven that the gap between Rangers is still ‘quite big’ after winning the opening two Glasgow derbies of the season.

To round off a pretty successful 2023, which saw the Bhoys win the Treble under Ange Postecoglou, the team

topped it off by beating Rangers 2-1 at Parkhead

Given Celtic’s slip-ups in December, there was a lot of pressure on Brendan Rodgers heading into that game.

But as the side have done all season long, they stepped up, stuck their chest out and proved their worth when it

mattered most.

Scott Brown spoke about the ‘quality’ within the squad and how that is the ‘difference’ between Celtic and

Rangers, as he told Sky Sports.

It also needs to be noted that, for the second Glasgow derby running, key players have been missing, including

another makeshift centre-back pairing.

Yet, the only thing Rangers could muster from those two matches, in terms of goalscoring ability, is a free-kick

goal from James Tavernier.

Either way, Scott Brown had a pretty brutal message for Rangers in their quest to catch Celtic this season.

Celtic and Rangers gap

“But Celtic have a strong squad and, as you saw when they played the other week, the gap was quite big, the way

the Celtic front three pressed, the quality they have got, I think that’s the difference,” said Brown.

“When you play in big games at home, you are expected to win and put on a show and that’s what Celtic did. I

thought they played exceptionally well, especially the first 75-80 minutes, they dominated, they were on the

front foot, and they looked like the only team that was going to score.

“They have put themselves in a great position and now they are going to get stronger and stronger, and they will

look fitter.
